Abstract

This essay examines India's rise in world affairs by analysing its progress through the lenses of economy, digitalization, and democracy. The research explores not only India's achievements but also the challenges it faces to become a leader on the world stage. Economically, India has made significant progress in terms of GDP, FDI, exports, connectivity, infrastructure and market. However, there are still challenges in the industrial sector, export levels and job opportunities. On the digital front, The Digital India initiative was a revolutionary step taken by the Government of India, but it still suffers from the problems of the digital divide and digital illiteracy. Lastly, democracy in India, rooted in its post-independence vision, balances federalism and national unity but is challenged by concerns over minority rights, judicial independence, and political polarization. India needs to keep rising by addressing these challenges and maintain its position as a leading voice of the global south.

Keywords: India, economy, Digital India, democracy, global south
