Abstract

In a world now heavily reliant on digital communication and social networking platforms, fake
news and misinformation have increasingly created challenges to democracy, public discourse,
and social trust across the globe. The quick propagation of lies not only takes a toll on the
credibility of information ecosystems but also hampers the role of media law in preventing,
limiting, and remedying such issues. This article sheds light on the entire legal frameworks
regulating media practices in different jurisdictions, weighs how the laws balance regulation with
freedom of expression, and assesses the overall influence media laws warm in combating
misinformation while at the same time serving democratic values. This paper attempts to analyze
global case studies demonstrating how media law can evolve to meet modern technological
realities without infringing upon the rights to free press.
