Abstract

For Cr-plated 30CrNi3MoV steel pipes, the failure of the Cr layer almost means the failure of pipes. The failure mode of the pipe is thermochemical coupling, the damage of the Cr layer by thermochemical coupling is in the form of local spalling. Heat-affected zone (HAZ) appeared on the inner surface of pipes after service and HAZ had the characteristics of hard and brittle. With the change of axial position, the thickness of HAZ gradually becomes thinner from pipe nozzle to pipe tail.
