Abstract
The famous Merseburg spells were named after the place where they were found and are today presented in facsimile in the Vault of Merseburg Castle. An interpretation of the twopart writings is possible by utilising Indo-Germanic language elements. So the first part of the Merseburg spells can thus be interpreted as short and concise premises of coexistence. And the second part is now often interpreted as collective help for an injured foal.
