Abstract

This research paper aims to investigate the role of literature in the development of Islamic feminism, particularly how Muslim women writers utilize literary expression to promote new ideas and perspectives and challenge patriarchal attitudes. The study employs a qualitative research design, incorporating a comprehensive literature review and textual analysis of selected works of literature. The findings reveal that literature offers a powerful platform for Muslim women to voice their experiences, struggles, and aspirations, which can facilitate gender equality within an Islamic framework. Keywords include Islamic feminism, gender equality, literature, Muslim women writers, and patriarchy. The research question posed is the role of literature in Islamic feminism and gender equality. The intersection of Islam and feminism has been a topic of interest for scholars and activists, with literary expression being a particularly powerful tool in redefining Islamic feminism and challenging patriarchal norms. The literature review examines previous research related to the topic of reimagining Islamic feminism through literary expression, specifically focusing on Nawal El Saadawi's 'Woman at Point Zero,' and identifies relevant themes and theories.

Keywords: Islamic feminism, literary expression, gender equality, Muslim women, patriarchy
