Abstract

The connection between non-ergodicity and evolution is explored by revisiting the Maxwell’s Demon paradigm. By eliminating Maxwell’s Demon, a clearer understanding emerges of evolution as a random, purposeless process, with exaptations playing a crucial role in shaping its mechanisms.
