Abstract

Attorney General Pam Bondi is undermining the US Department of Justice’s mission to “uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights.”  DOJ lawyers have been told on pain of “discipline” and potential termination that they must follow the “political views” that align with “those that prevailed in the election.”  By directing DOJ attorneys to behave as the president’s lawyers rather than our country’s lawyers, Ms. Bondi threatens our liberties and the rule of law under our Constitution. These directions will not protect DOJ lawyers complying with dubious DOJ demands from sanctions by a court or a  disciplinary authority. We the people, whether lawyers or not, should condemn any DOJ lawyer who abandons justice and praise all who follow the US Supreme Court mandate that justice shall be done by DOJ attorneys.
