Zenodo: A Platform for Open Access and Sustainable Digital Research Repository

Abstract

This paper highlights the contributions of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) open-access repository Zenodo to open science and digital preservation. It covers Zenodo's features, including metadata management, Digital Object Identifier (DOI) versioning, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) compliance, and interaction with GitHub and other platforms. This paper aims to find out the repository's open licensing practices, technical architecture, and safe, long-term data storage, demonstrating how well it handles issues like accessibility, obsolescence, and data loss. Researchers, institutions, and governments may adopt better digital preservation techniques and promote a transparent and collaborative culture in scientific research by looking at Zenodo's role in conserving and disseminating research results.
