Mutual Constitution of Bim and Organizational Configurations in Construction Projects

Abstract

The paper aims to examine the mutual constitution of BIM and organizational configurations in construction projects. Grounded in Structuration Model of Technology and Mutual Constitution Theory, this paper establishes a theoretical model and validates the associated hypotheses via PLS-SEM. The results show that: The owner's support is crucial in BIM implantation stage; BIM implementation positively impacts flattening and informal relationships of organizational configurations; During technical adjustments, informal relationships enhance BIM implementation with owner support mediating; The mutual constitution of BIM and construction project organizational configurations is a long-term, multi-stage process. This study points out the direction for BIM implementation.
