Date Written: August 2005
Abstract
This book has one central objective and that is to demonstrate how the theory of stochastic processes and the techniques of stochastic modeling can be used to effectively model arranged marriage settings, and to use these stochastic models of arranged marriages to explain various aspects of the nature of decision making in arranged marriages. To this end, this chapter first provides a succinct introduction to arranged marriages and then it delineates the contributions of each of the book's nine analytical chapters.
