This note offers an introduction to reorganization procedures within the U.S. bankruptcy law from a business perspective. It can be used to explore the strategic dimensions of bankruptcy procedures and to set the stage for UVA-QA-0634.
A Managerial primer on the u.S. Bankruptcy Code
The Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1978 (Bankruptcy Code) established the, “inability of a debtor to pay debts as they become due,” as the sole qualifying criterion for bankruptcy. It is divided into the following (selected) chapters:
