Abstract

The present work aims to reflect on the changes on the State-Citizen relation as deployed by the New Public Management (NPM), placing particular emphasis on the reformulation of citizen duties in the context of NPM reforms and the drive towards consumerism. It addresses the question whether the consumerism that underpins the NPM approach is redefining the State-citizen relationship, particularly in the context of citizen duties.
