Abstract

The International Commission of Jurists (1972) report, The Events in East Pakistan, 1971, is a valuable contemporaneous report on the Bangladeshi genocide. It provides a factual background to the genocide that occurred in East Pakistan amidst Bangladesh's war of national liberation. It also examines various issues related to the genocide and the war of national liberation that are pertinent to contemporary questions, such as humanitarian intervention. This essay provides a critical evaluation of the ICJ report.
