Abstract
The paper is devoted to the long-term trends of development of information-communication technologies’ sector. Information and communication technologies over the past decades have been one of the key drivers of socio-economic progress. Their development and wide distribution contribute to the transformation of the image of many sectors of the economy; improving the quality of life; business efficiency and public administration; the emergence of new forms of training, communication and socialization of people; providing access to various types of information. In turn, the dynamics of ICT itself essentially depends on global challenges and wider trends that determine the long-term priorities of science and technology. Within the framework of a long-term forecast of scientific and technological development, strategic directions for the development of targeted ICT research were identified, creating the basis for the production of innovative products and services in the medium and long term (beyond 2020) and the formation of new markets on this basis. We made the conclusion that the ICT sector in the medium and long term will keep high rates of dynamics and will have a powerful impact on the development of business and public administration, the growth of the quality of life, the emergence of new forms of socialization of people and their communication. The life cycle of technology, relevant products and services will only accelerate. Under these conditions, the role of research and development remains extremely important.
