Abstract
In two previous articles, I have identified five “laws” of politics governing national competitive electoral systems from around the world (Cuzán 2015, 2019). They describe invariant or nearly invariant patterns of incumbent support characteristic of democracies, whether parliamentary or presidential. In this paper, I show that the same patterns are observed at the sub-national level in Australia, Canada, and the United States.
