Abstract
The practice of leadership traditionally has focused on the role of leaders in managing and protecting group boundaries. Leaders often operate within their box on the organizational chart, within the interests of their unit or team, and within the mind-sets of the demographic or cultural groups to which they belong. However, in this age of global interconnection, the opposite response is often required - the ability to bridge intergroup boundaries toward a shared vision or goal.
