Abstract

Are comments in a lawyer’s blog subject to the same ethical restraints placed on television, radio, or newspaper ads? Does a law firm’s website have to comply with ethics rules regulating lawyer advertising? Can statements by a lawyer participating in an online chat room violate the rules on solicitation found in Model Rule 7.3? In this ethics column we review what state bar associations have said and done about Internet marketing through ethics opinions and rule changes.
