Abstract

This study is a collaborative research that was conducted to determine the dominant identity status of the respondents from the two colleges. One of these colleges is located in the Philippines and the other is located in the Sultanate of Oman. The extent of the psychological need satisfaction at work of the respondents is also assessed. The descriptive survey method was utilized in this study. The researcher-made questionnaire and an adapted survey form were utilized. They are the main tools for gathering the data. They are administered to the one hundred thirty four respondents of this study. The researchers found that guardians and pathmakers are frequently the identity status of the two groups of respondents. On the other hand, among the two groups of respondents, the one who are working in the Sultanate of Oman are more Drifters than those that are in the Philippines. However, in both groups, Guardians is their most dominant identity status. Moreover, the two groups of respondents demonstrated that they are extensively satisfied as regards to their autonomy and relatedness at work; however, as regards to their competency satisfaction the respondents from the public college in the Philippines demonstrated it at great extent which signifies that they are extensively satisfied while the respondents from private college in Oman held less great extent of competency satisfaction at work which signifies that they are just fairly satisfied. In closing, it can be gleaned that there is a slight difference on the way they represent themselves in terms of their identity status. While, on the three aspects of the psychological satisfaction at work even though, there are differences in their assessment as to their competency satisfaction, at some instances the respondents are extensively satisfied as to their autonomy and relatedness at work.
