Ethical Knowledge: A Neglected Dimension of the Tpack Model

Abstract

The comprehensive model of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) lacks a measurable account of teacher ethical knowledge. In order to address this gap, a new conceptual model called Technological Pedagogical Content Ethical Knowledge (TPCEK) is proposed through qualitative research. In 2022, a semi-structured interview was conducted with 13 experts using purposive sampling. Thematic data analysis revealed that teaching has an ethical nature and teachers have a responsibility to serve as ethical role models for students. As a result, TPCEK should be integrated into the curriculum and policy of training centers or programs to provide teachers with ethical knowledge.
