Abstract

Optical execution of exclusive-OR operation can enhance the applicability of data processing, cryptography, and optical computation. This paper presents a novel and simplified approach to implement exclusive-OR operation utilizing polarization-engineered optical vortex array for two-dimensional encoding. As compared to conventional methods, the proposed approach significantly simplifies the resultant light field characterization through intensity analysis. It is expected that the proposed approach would simplify the optical implementation of exclusive-OR operation leading to its applicability in various areas of science and technology, including classical and quantum optics.
