Abstract
MIO (Modular Integrative Operator) is a conceptual framework for structured self-regulation under conditions of cognitive-emotional overload. It is designed to provide a minimal, repeatable structural ordering of perception, bodily response, and cognitive processing, enabling individuals to maintain functional orientation in high-load situations. MIO does not constitute a therapeutic, diagnostic, or medical model. It introduces no treatment protocol, makes no claims regarding efficacy, and is not intended to guide clinical decision-making. Instead, it operates as an analytical and organizational framework that structures observations and supports the generation of testable hypotheses regarding regulation under stress. The framework is based on the assumption that loss of internal structure, rather than isolated symptoms, is a primary factor in states of overload. MIO addresses this by introducing simple ordering principles that restore conditions under which perception and regulation become possible.
MIO is designed to be compatible with clinical, research, and educational contexts without being dependent on any specific theoretical school. Its primary contribution lies in structural clarity and cross-context applicability, not in theoretical completeness or empirical validation. This paper defines the conceptual architecture of MIO, clarifies its epistemic status, and outlines its relation to existing approaches in self-regulation and resilience research. This working paper is intended for researchers and practitioners in self-regulation, resilience, and interdisciplinary systems research.
